Roles
The role of the mentor is to assist the mentee through a process of self-reflection, questions and support, signposting challenges and offering feedback.
The role of the mentee is to work with the mentor to seek help and guidance. This might involve setting goals and carry out a plan to meet those goals, or using the mentor as a sounding board for advice, reflection and decision making.
Responsibilities
Both the mentor and mentee should carry out their roles with professionalism, consideration and support. You should not expect any personal or professional favours from the mentors you contact via Holles Connect.
Personal information
Please do not pass on any personal information, including contact details or social media accounts. Please do not ask your mentor for their contact details, social media accounts, or try and approach them beyond the Holles Connect messaging function.
Communication
All communications will take place via the Holles Connect messaging function only. This is to safeguard you as a pupil, and to allow the School to measure how the platform is being used. This restriction applies however well you feel you might know your correspondent. This is a condition of taking part in LEH Elevate as a pupil.
Remember to thank your mentor for their time and for any advice they have given. Please be clear about what level of support you are seeking and what your time frame is.
As part of being respectful, do bear in mind that you should only get in touch with a query if you have been unable to find an answer using all the usual research avenues. As busy professionals, we don’t want to overload our LEH Elevate Mentors. They are a precious resource to be used sparingly and judiciously!
Monitoring
The LEH Careers Team reserve the right to read messages sent through the Holles Connect system and will routinely monitor conversations at random for safeguarding purposes.
If you have concerns at any time, please raise them immediately with a member of the LEH Careers Team or another trusted person in School.
Feedback
If you take part in an LEH Elevate Mentoring match, we will send you a brief feedback form to help us monitor if the programme is working effectively and identify improvements which could be made.
If you have any questions, please speak to the Careers Team.
