LEH Alumna Alys Thomas won the women's 200 metres butterfly title at the Commonwealth Games in 2018, setting a new games record. She also contributed to Wales' bronze medal winning 4x100 medley relay, and also won two bronze medals at the 2018 European Championships.  Alys began swimming as a baby, and her success in the pool began at LEH.  At Swansea University, Alys combined studying for her Psychology degree with a rigorous training regime, which consisted of up to nine 2-hour pool sessions, and three gym sessions each week.
Alys made an inspirational speech when she returned to LEH in 2018, taking us through her career since leaving LEH, and the challenges of life as a professional swimmer.
