Alumnae News |
Dear Alumnae,
These are indeed strange and challenging times, and as the impact of the coronavirus is felt around the world, I wanted to update you personally on how the LEH community is responding.
I hope you have enjoyed our recent newsletters, with creative ideas for keeping yourselves and your families busy, along with many tips on working from home, on looking after your wellbeing and on staying sane in this long-term lockdown.
As you would expect, members of staff and students from Form 1 to U6 have been doing their bit to try to help our wonderful NHS workers and you can read more about their sterling efforts in this special newsletter. We know many of our alumnae are also involved in the Covid-19 fight, so please send us photos and messages about what you’ve been up to so we can share your news.
You’ll also be pleased to know that virtual teaching is now in place throughout the school, and we have been busy creating a new syllabus for UV and UVI students who would have been taking exams this term. We want to make sure that they will still enjoy an enriching and rewarding experience in school.
In ‘normal’ times, our L6 would be attending university open days and starting to prepare their UCAS personal statements. Given that these open days will now not be taking place, we would welcome help from alumnae currently studying at any university to share their experiences with our students, either by writing a brief summary or even making a short video and sending these to alumnae@lehs.org.uk.
We also plan to contact our wider LEH community who might be in a position to offer help and advice to recent graduates who may be concerned about their future careers. One of our governors, an LEH alumna herself, who runs a career coaching company, has already made an offer of professional mentoring for LEH alumnae, please see the separate Careers news story for more details.
If you would like to offer mentoring, or if you’d be interested in volunteering for future careers events, please let us know here.
Thank you, as always, for your support and, once this horrible crisis is over, I hope we’ll see you at a school event in the not too distant future!
Meanwhile, I wish you and your families the very best at this difficult time.
Best wishes,
Heather Hanbury
Head Mistress
