FLexercise at Home with LEH Alumna

We asked you to share your tips and ideas to benefit the LEH alumnae community during lockdown, and Alison Howard (Class of 1973) has come forward to offer fun exercise classes you can do at home.
Alison Howard (LEH 1964-1971) is an official FLexercise teacher and usually takes weekly exercise and movement classes in Surrey and Hampshire. She is now offering online classes to fellow alumnae, with half of the proceeds going to the LEH Bursary Fund.

FLexerise is part exercise, part dance, but all fun, and offers a complete approach to fitness and mobility for all ages and abilities that will leave you feeling good and looking great.

Alison says: "The age demographic of those I teach is 55+ rising to people in their 80s.  However, the exercise system is suitable for all ages.  It concentrates on good body alignment (posture); mobilisation of joints; strengthening and lengthening of muscles etc.  Now that I cannot teach in halls, I am preparing classes to do at home which can be downloaded from the cloud.  The filming is not professional; I am doing it at home so in the same circumstances as those who are doing the classes."

The classes are divided into two – first section is all standing; the second is a similar work out but with the aid of a chair for those less mobile.  The two sections last approximately 35 minutes.  Each class progresses on from the last, so using similar exercises and muscle groups but adding more moves and variations.

She is offering a six class programme, followed by a further six class programme.  The six classes will be delivered over a period of one month at regular intervals.  There is a small charge of £10 per month.  Alison adds: "As I am sharing this opportunity with LEH Alumnae, 50% of proceeds will be donated to the Bursary Fund."

If you are interested please email her at alison.flexercise@gmail.com  and she will send you your first class and details for payment which will be by BACS. FLexercise has been going for 90 years, having started as the Women's League of Health and Beauty in 1930. Thank you so much Alison.  Please keep those tips and ideas coming: alumnae@lehs.org.uk
