Alumnae Give Back at Careers Evening

Our alumnae represented an impressive array of occupations and professions, from architecture and aviation to TV production and civil engineering  There was an excited buzz as pupils queued up to quiz delegates about their working lives and career advice.

Head of Higher Education and Careers Nicky Hampstead said: “We had such a fantastic turnout from our alumnae this year. It’s always a joy to welcome them back to school. We’re so grateful to everyone who gave up their time to encourage and inspire pupils about potential career choices and future aspirations. It was great to see pupils really making the most of the opportunity."

A huge thank you to two of our Lower Sixth Careers Ambassadors, Heidi Morris and Rose Su, who attended the packed event and filed this report for us: “Last Tuesday LEH welcomed 60 delegates to share their experiences with students from U5 to U6. They were able to share valuable advice and guidance on career paths, helping students gain an insight into different career pathways and the current job market.

The event not only helped students who had already decided on their choices for after school but was a great opportunity for those students who are still undecided to hear from a range of sectors and industries. We had representatives from medical, creative arts, law and technology backgrounds which ensured there was something for everyone.

We welcomed back many alumnae, who were able to give advice that they wished they had during their time at LEH. Many looked back on their time at LEH with fondness, while speaking with one of the alumna they expressed how they “really enjoyed it here and wanted to give back to the school”.

The event was both beneficial to the students and the delegates as they were able to exchange experiences and gain fresh perspectives. A piece of advice we especially liked was that you should “enjoy what you love, try everything, it's like a buffet”.
