Helping Hand for First Time Buyers

It’s been a busy but fulfilling few months for Techpreneur Charlotte Burton, Class of 2012, whose new platform guiding first time homeowners through the whole process is really beginning to take off.

Charlotte and business partner Nick Farquhar have been attending trade shows to promote Fairy Godmover, their service which aims to reduce some of the stress of buying a first property, with personalised checklists of tasks to complete, bite-sized explanations, and advice and guidance on how to avoid common mistakes.

“We’re especially excited about our new home buying calculator,” says Charlotte. “I’d absolutely love some fellow alumnae to help us put it to the test.  It allows buyers to find how many bedrooms they can afford in different UK regions, taking into account all upfront costs such as stamp duty and legal fees. Do have a play around with it and let me know your thoughts. Please also send it to anyone you know who's considering buying their first home too.”

Early adopters, who made their checklists back in January, are just starting to complete their home purchases. Charlotte says: “It’s so cool to see people use our tools all the way through to the end. If you have any other suggestions/feedback/thoughts on home buying, I am all ears!”
