Alumnae News |
The short film, which premiered on Friday 12th May at the historic The Castle Cinema in East London, is written and produced by Alexandra Shaw, Class of 2018, and stars two other alumnae from her year: Anastasia Martin (In From The Cold, Netflix) and Florence Guy (Tom Jones, ITV). Alex was given the support of the ETA to help complete post-production.
The film tells the story of Carrie, who must navigate an unexpected visit from her volatile partner: troubling her housemates and challenging the extent to which Carrie can ignore her intuition.
It was directed by Izzy Thompson, and also stars Alasdair Linn (Lucid, Chelsea Theatre/Edinburgh) and Isabella Stavrou (Coloured Lights, RAM). The film was shot over three days with a diverse team and Jack Edwards as Director of Photography: Panalux Best Cinematographer Award Winner and NFTS Graduate.
There was an additional LEH element to the special evening of Over Her Shoulder, with wonderful live music performed by former LEH music scholar Paradis Farahati, also from the Class of 2018.
After the screening there was a Q&A session with the brilliant cast and crew, and a bolstering interview with guest speaker Patrick Regis. The team would love to thank the audience and The Castle Cinema, without whom it wouldn't have been possible.
Alex says: “We are so grateful that the Emerging Talent Award enabled us to complete post-production of Over Her Shoulder. It is now entering the film festival circuit, and we hope it will be a calling card for larger projects. It has been a joy for LEH alumnae Alexandra, Anastasia, and Florence to come together for this project. Thank you to everyone!”
We wish them every success with the film. To find out more about it, follow @_overhershoulder_ on Instagram. The trailer is also available to view on Vimeo. If you are logged in to your Holles Connect account, you will be able to see the photo of the Q&A below.
