Team ExtraOARdinary Smash it!

A year after reaching the finishing line of their record-breaking Atlantic crossing, our team of alumnae rowers have now also reached their ambitious fundraising target of £100,000.

Huge LEH congratulations are due to Team ExtraOARdinary – made up of LEH Head of Rowing Abby Johnston, Class of 2007, Marketing Manager Charlotte Irving, Class of 2008, and teammate Kat Cordiner, who has been nominated an honorary alumna!

Since completing the 3,000-mile Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge this time last year, in a record-breaking 42 days, seven hours and 17 minutes, the trio have continued to work their socks off.  Now back in their day jobs, they have had to fit the fundraising motivational talks and charity appearances in around their regular commitments.

Kat has secondary cervical cancer and is thought to be the first person to tackle the challenge as a cancer patient.  All the funds raised will go to charities very close to their hearts – Cancer Research UK, the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Abby says: “Thank you so much to each and every one of you who donated and supported us throughout our whole campaign - we’ll never be able to thank you enough. With your help, we’ve made a difference and done our part to turn the tide on cancer.”

The team is still collecting final contributions, so if you do want to donate to the cause, please follow this link: Charities | ExtraOARdinary Causes (weareextraoardinary.com). We are incredibly proud of their achievements on and off the water. Hope really does Favour the Bold.
