Alumnae News |
She enjoyed a lunch in the staff canteen and then had the opportunity to walk the corridors and see the classrooms once again. She was accompanied on her trip down memory lane by Elizabeth, in the U6, who kindly wrote this report: "Last week, I was asked to take an alumna - Frances Ludman - on a tour around the school.
Returning to the building aged 77, she had many interesting stories to tell: one that was particularly appealing to me was the story of how she would walk over from the junior school to the senior school, across the bridge, to have lunch in what we use now as the assembly hall.
But what I found most interesting was that all the teachers would also eat lunch there, and food would be served in a large pot in the middle of each table, normally served with a side of apparently disgusting gravy. I feel lucky that the food we get now is delicious…
Being in my last year of LEH, I hesitantly anticipate leaving the place where I have spent the last 10 years of my life, although Frances’s stories of being so involved with the school community and coming back to visit provide comfort. I feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to learn about the ways in which the school has developed!"
