“This is an ideal opportunity for parents, staff and friends to meet regularly in a relaxed atmosphere for rehearsals and ultimately to join the pupils in making music in a formal concert – something I think we have all missed hugely in the last two years,” says Director of Music Miranda Ashe. “We hope that you will be able to join us.”
The Joint Choral Society is a choir of over 100 singers made up of pupils, parents, staff and friends of the two schools. There are no auditions – we only ask that you try to attend as many rehearsals as possible. The pupils usually rehearse separately in school time until near the performance date.
The Joint LEH and Hampton Choral Society Concert will take place on Saturday 12th March 2022 at Lady Eleanor Holles. We will be performing the devastating end of Mahler’s mighty 2nd Symphony, a powerful Shakespearean Cantata by Brendan Ashe and Handel’s glorious Zadok the Priest. We will be joined by a team of professional soloists and an orchestra made up of musicians from both schools.
The first rehearsal is at LEH on Sunday 9th January 2022 from 2.00pm – 4.00pm. You should enter LEH by the Great Hall Gates and go through the glass Atrium entrance. Refreshments are provided at all rehearsals.
A signing-up/email contact list will be sent around the choir during the first rehearsal. Music will be provided, and copies will also be available to buy. If you are unable to make the first rehearsal, please let Mrs Tate know by emailing her at: ptate@lehs.org.uk.
