Please join us as we kick the festive season off in style with the Alumnae Carol Service on Monday 8th December, 6.45-8pm. Following the success of last year’s event, we’ve decided to keep the service local again, so the venue is the beautiful St Mary’s Church, near the river in Hampton.
Holding it jointly with the Senior School makes it more efficient and cost effective. However, St Giles’ Cripplegate, will always hold a special place in our hearts and in our heritage, and we will return there again in the future.
Whatever the location, the traditional service is always a truly uplifting event, and tells the Christmas story, through poetry and gospel readings, provided by key members of the school and alumnae community. The highlight is always the exceptional standard of choral music from current pupils, including the Holles Singers and Cantata.
There is no cost to attend, but we do ask that you reserve your place in advance. Family and friends are also welcome to attend. The service will be followed by a delicious mince pie and mulled wine reception.
St Mary’s is located just 20 metres from the river, and its striking Gothic architecture and tall church tower will be a familiar landmark to many. There has been a church on the site for more than 650 years, although the present building was built in 1831. It features magnificent stained glass windows, ornate carved choir stalls and raised viewing galleries.
