Broadcast journalist and film maker Tazeen Ahmad will be visiting LEH on Wednesday 22 January for a special screening of a 60 minute documentary film about migration, called Humanity Rising in the Refuge Crisis.
It focuses on the humanitarian stories behind the current refugee crisis and details a journey to the heart of what makes us human, touchingly explored through the personal stories of those deeply caught up in the emergency.
The film follows Ahmad’s journey through refugee camps in Calais, Lebanon and Greece, as well as places where refugees meet locals in the UK. The film highlights the narratives of individuals fleeing wars and oppression, volunteers, aid agencies, ordinary members of the public, government officials, academics and spiritual leaders who offer us holistic reflection on humanity’s response to the largest crisis since WWII. It also profiles the outstanding initiatives working hard on the ground, reaching out to humanity, providing inspiration over what can be done to remedy the situation.
It will be followed by a Q&A with Tazeen, plus a volunteer who is likely to be a refugee who has settled in the UK. The screening and talk will take place in the LEH theatre, starting at 4.15pm. Please reserve your free place if you are interested in attending.
